Sfakia is best visited between April and October, when the weather is ideal for sightseeing, hiking and exploring the southern coastline.
The area offers traditional tavernas, cafés, guesthouses, supermarkets, pharmacies and small local shops, especially in Chora Sfakion.
Bring comfortable walking shoes, swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses and a camera. If you plan to hike or take a boat trip, carry plenty of water.
Many nearby beaches and villages, including Loutro and Agia Roumeli, are accessible only by boat or on foot, making Sfakia an excellent starting point for exploring South Crete.
