About Balos Lagoon

Balos Lagoon is one of the most breathtaking natural attractions in Crete, located on the Gramvousa Peninsula in the northwest of the island. Its shallow turquoise waters, white sand and spectacular scenery make it one of the most photographed destinations in Greece.

Just opposite the lagoon lies the small island of Gramvousa, home to a historic Venetian fortress built during the 16th century. The entire area is protected under the Natura 2000 network, preserving its unique ecosystem and exceptional natural beauty for future generations.
